Lane Smith
CEO & President
Lane Smith is CEO & President of Do IT Smarter, a leader in transitioning VARs to MSPs – the path taken by Do IT Smarter, which is now a Master MSP. Through programs and initiatives that Do IT Smarter brings to market, Lane is influential in the managed services industry. Lane currently sits on the board of several technology companies as well as the MSP Alliance Board of Advisors in an effort to help educate the reseller community on MSP best practices.
Prior to his role in founding Do IT Smarter, Lane was an Enterprise Solutions Consultant for a large VAR, where he managed enterprise deployments of Microsoft-based email messaging solutions. He began his career as Data System Technician for the United States Navy. After leaving the Navy, Smith worked in various technical positions for companies in the SMB market.
Lane lives with his wife and three children in the Madison, Wisconsin area, where he is active in business and community organizations and currently sits on the Board of Directors of his city's Main Street Program.
Jeff Wieler
Vice President of Services
Jeff Wieler is Vice President of Services for Do IT Smarter and is one of the original partners who founded Do IT Smarter in 1999. As vice president of services, Jeff is responsible for the technical implementation and customer satisfaction of Do IT Smarter clients and resellers. By combining technical real world Microsoft experience with his customer-oriented attitude, Wieler is a strong project manager and the primary escalation point for the Do IT Smarter technical team.
Prior to his role in founding Do IT Smarter, Jeff served as a network administrator in both healthcare and manufacturing markets. As a consultant, Jeff was responsible for international Microsoft technology refresh projects and deployments.
He received his bachelor’s degree in History from UCSD in 1992. Jeff lives in San Diego with his wife and son.
Jeff Tam
Director of Service Operations
Jeff Tam is Director of Service Operations for Do IT Smarter and has been with the organization since 2004. Initially joining Do IT Smarter in a technical role, Jeff served as the organization's lead systems engineer and was responsible for overseeing internal training and delivery of technical projects focused around Do IT Smarter's array of managed services. Jeff eventually transitioned into a management role at Do IT Smarter. As a director, he is currently responsible for overseeing the organization's 24x7 operations and ensuring service delivery for Do IT Smarter customers and resellers.
Prior to joining Do IT Smarter, Jeff served as a Help Desk Analyst for a large financial services institution and before that, served as a QA Analyst for a large tax software development company located in San Diego.
He received his bachelor's degree in Business - Information and Decision Systems from SDSU in 2002. Jeff lives in the San Diego area with his wife and two daughters.
